Developing energy assessment and other units for Asset Skills

We are contributing to the work of Asset Skills in taking forward the reform of vocational qualifications. This project involves developing initial drafts of units and Rules of Combination for each of the sub-sectors in consultation with Asset Skills. We are also be attending meetings with key stakeholders, in order to finalise and get agreement the units and rules of combination that will be submitted to the database following consultation.

Supporting the Employer Engagement Programme for Qualifications and Credit Development Agency (QCDA)

We are providing consultancy services to QCDA to support its efforts to engage employers in accrediting their own in-company training programmes. Using our credit and qualifications expertise, we support a wide range of employers and other organisations, including government departments, a leading chain of hair salons, a recycling paper manufacturer, finance company and others.

Unit sampling for QCDA

The project builds on previous sampling work undertaken by us. It involves the review of several hundred units against regulatory and good practice criteria. In the process of this review we apply a standard methodology using expert unit reviewers in order to inform an analytical report to QCDA. The results of this review are used to provide feedback to individual organisations about units that they developed and to contribute to future guidance about unit writing for unit and qualifications developers.

Developing Business Enterprise and Business Support units for SFEDI

Using our expert unit writers, we are developing draft QCF units following previous work on behalf of SFEDI in Business Enterprise. We are consulting with SFEDI partners, to ensure that these units, which will be available to all awarding organisations involved in Business Enterprise and Support to use This work will provide the basis for more flexible provision of Business Enterprise training and support which can be tailored to the specific needs of individual entrepreneurs and those who provide them with advice and guidance.

Writing guidance for unit developers of competence based units for QCDA

Based on the experience we have gained over many years, we are in the process of finalising a report and guidance to assist unit developers when writing units that combine knowledge, skills and other aspects of competence. This work was undertaken as part of a policy and strategy initiative on behalf of QCDA and will be part of a range of materials available to people involved in the development of qualifications within the QCF.
